Attila Ray Debasi, Part II
Saturday, August 21st

Looking for an art experience that is unique and hands on?  Stop by the Red Wing Arts Association’s Depot Gallery on Saturday, August 21st, at 10:00 AM to watch and/or participate in a performance art event by Attila Ray Debasi, sculptor in residence at the Anderson Center.  Bring your camera and expect the unexpected as Debasi brings approximately 400 pounds of clay to the patio of the Red Wing Depot.

This event developed as Debasi was planning for his “Artist in Residence” slide show presentation on sculpting that he will conduct at the Red Wing Arts Association’s Depot Gallery at 7:00 PM, Thursday, August 19th.  Debasi wants to give his audience the opportunity to experience sculpting first hand.  Join us for this unique and fun filled art experience.

Bold Contemporary Exhibit at Fairview-Red Wing.

Guy Williams’ bold and vibrant abstract paintings are brightening the walls
of the Fairview-Red Wing Medical Center cafeteria. A prolific painter and
accomplished musician, Williams’ paintings portray his many interests.
“My painting emerges from my survival need to paint. This need has
remained an integral part of my everyday experience over the past forty
years…Music has always been a driving motivational force for my brilliantly
colored paintings. I thrive on laying out bright swatches of color, coaxing
them to play symphonic notes on the canvas like a bass drum at the climax
of a Richard Wagner piece.” At once powerful, energetic and erotic,
Guy’s work is dominated by bold staccato colors and possesses an air
of spontaneous invention, best characterized perhaps as solo
improvisations in homage to the imagination. (From his bio.)

An Eye Toward 2011

Ever wonder how the exhibits at the RWAA Depot Gallery come
together? They start with a meeting of the Gallery Committee. The
Committee will meet in early August and Dan Guida, Executive
Director, would like to ask you for your suggestions for possible
exhibits next year. Do you or does someone you know have
exceptional talent and enough art to bring to an exhibit? Please
submit any ideas for exhibits by August 6 to Dan Guida.
